Pitcher Edwin Jackson pitched for 8 innings and with help from White Sox slugger Alex Rios, beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5 to 1 at U.S Cellular Field. It was a chilly, foggy, but satisfying day for White Sox fans.

Lori Moreland had her debut on the organ that had been Nancy Faust‘s domain since the 1970s. Her version of “Take me out to the Ballgame” was set to a faster tempo than Nancy’s version.

Orestes “Minnie” Minosa was honored and he threw out the first pitch. Manager Ozzie Guillen stepped in for Mark Buehrle who usually catches the ceremonial pitches, and caught Minosa’s pitch.

Even under a cloudy sky, the field was in its usual top-shape, thanks to “Sodfather” Roger Brossard.
