Reporters needed. Human interest stories, we’ll supply you with the name of business to report on.

Barbara Iverson has a list of businesses to share with RWII and other classes. Have students report and write the stories for your class. When you have looked at them, students can submit them to Chicagotalks in the category “Local First.”

The story will go on the Local First website with the student’s byline. The story will get a mention and link to it in Chicagotalks.org.

To get your class involved, or if you are a student who wants to freelance a story, contact Barbara Iverson at

Stories will be mentioned and get a link from Chicagotalks or AustinTalks, depending on the neighborhood. This is a great way to get a good clip, with some social media around it. Local Chicago First is a non-profit that is working with the City of Chicago, so they will do the publicity. We need solid human interest stories, with photos, and video. Your story can be a video story or text with photos. How about a podcast version of the story? Your imagination and skill sets the limits.

LocalFirst Chicago is a network of locally owned, independent businesses and community organizations joined together to keep money and character in our neighborhoods and build a thriving local living economy.
