ChicagoTalks Photo Group on Flickr.com is up and online. You can upload your photos with a description, and we publish the newest photos several times per week. Get your work in front of people by sharing it with ChicagoTalks.
ChicagoTalks publishes content under a Creative Commons license, so you (original author or photographer) retain the rights to the work. We focus on providing attribution and information about the photographer and the work, as a way for young creatives to get their name and work out to a wide audience.
We are looking for unusual and interesting photos that show particular neighborhoods. What do you see where you live, that sets it apart from the generic “street” or “store” or “house” is what interests us. Is there something about the people in your ‘hood that makes them memorable?
What does Roseland, Wicker Park, Wrigleyville, Pilsen, Auburn-Gresham, or your neighborhood look like from your perspective? Show off your talent and your town. Geo-tag your photos so you can build a hyperlocal following.
In addition, we love to get photos of news events and celebrities, music venues and concerts, dance, art openings — upload those images and send us a couple of paragraphs with the who, what, when, where, and we will publish your photo essay in ChicagoTalks, as well as featuring the image. Since ChicagoTalks is an edited news publication, not a DIY blog, stories and images we feature are good clips for your portfolio.
The ChicagoTalks Photo Group is open to anyone, but you have to join first. In September, we will have the first of several photography contests. Prizes will be certificates to the bookstore and the ShopColumbia.
