Stories written by Jennifer B. HernandezHi my name is Jennifer Bravo Hernandez; I am majoring in broadcasting journalism at Columbia College Chicago. I am Vice-President of HJC (Hispanic Journalists of Columbia) a club for journalism students to come together and grow within the field. I have always had the charisma to be able to speak to people and have their attention. Since I was a child I have always been a very out going and social person. I enjoy going out and interviewing people. It interests me how looking up facts and getting to interview people can turn into a story for many to read. I love working with people and simply getting the chance to interact with others. It is something I find very interesting. I have noticed that since I was a child I loved gossip and I loved providing others with information. This is what made me realize that I wanted to continue on doing so as a career. It has been a dream of mine to become a TV personality possibly starting out as a news anchor and making my way up to even someday owning my own broadcasting company. Someday I hope to be successful enough to where I can start my own scholarship foundation for those who want to succeed and go forward with their goals and ambitions. I would love to one day be a TV and Radio Personality such as Ryan Seacrest, or even like Oprah Winfrey. I have always said to myself, “dream big or go home”, and to me this is one of those big dreams. This will be an accomplishment that will not only let me feel proficient but also make my loved ones proud.
I come from a humble Mexican family from the south suburbs of Chicago. I am the first to attend college and to my family and I, this is a big step into a bright future. I always found education being the solid element of becoming successful in life, but in order to fully succeed I learned that one must be self-confident. Self-confidence is the key to actually finding success; being able to believe in myself proves I can be capable of anything and everything. I want it to be known that I am here to inform and entertain my audience. I know that with time, dedication and determination my dream will come true.
