Besides, this is no different than when an apartment building decides to go condo. You may have been living in the building for 25 years, but you are a renter, and as such understand that something like this could happen at any time in the future. If Lakeview Foods wasn't willing, or was unable to find a suitable alternative location while the work is done, then that is unfortunate for them, but that's life. Wanting to rid the neighborhood of businesses that are complacent, or even friendly to the drug & gang problems we have in Uptown is hardly ‘economic cleansing’.

They are almost giddy (sp?) over these closings. Seems that these businesses were not "upscale" enough for those who, in my opinion, seem to want to perform "economic cleansing" to the area.
