Clinton Wins Big in South Carolina

With Super Tuesday looming, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won her first decisive victory in the 2016 presidential race Saturday.
The landslide victory in South Carolina’s Democratic primary marks a turning point for Clinton, who lost handily eight years ago to a senator named Barack Obama.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders did particularly poorly among the Palmetto State’s African-American population, losing to Clinton 76 percent to 24 percent.
Facing 11 states on March 1 and the March 15 Illinois primary, Sanders hopes to gain the momentum he lost in South Carolina, while Clinton wants to build.
