With a packed crowd, the Broncos senior shooting guard Joell Davis scored 18 points (62 percent from the field) while Kenwood junior shooting guard Rahamanh Katumbusi added 16 points on 67 percent from the field.

“I was very excited about tonight’s game,” Davis said. “I wanted to end the season strong, and most importantly win the game for my team.

Kenwood Head Coach Jim Maley said despite injuries preventing Davis from playing early in the season, he has come back playing exceptionally well.

“Davis has been playing great,” Maley said. “He’s planning to go to a junior college, but I believe that with his skill level he is an all-around Division I player.

The six seniors that are leaving the Broncos after this season are: guard Raynard Jones, 6-foot-3 Steven Dean, power forward George Jones, power forward Donovan El, shooting guard Xavier Edwards and shooting guard Joell Davis.

“It’s been good seeing the seniors grow from freshman year to now,” said Bill Kluber Kenwood athletic director. “The improvements that they’ve made have been remarkable, because some of them could barely dribble a basketball when they first came here. But now these guys are able to play under pressure, while still having a good time performing in front of a packed crowd like tonight.”

Assistant Coach Les Gill said that he expects all of the players to keep playing hard and competing at the highest level possible.

“It’s been four years with these guys and I’m truly going to miss them,” Gill said. “All in all I hope that they show the improvements that they showed me at the next level.”

The Broncos entire coaching staff said out of all of the seniors, Edwards has made the most improvement since his freshman year at Kenwood.

As a student-athlete, Edwards has maintained a 4.0 G.P.A. while planning to be granted the Gates Scholarship Award. He has also averaged 4.5 points per game, and came through with buzzer-beater shots against the Wheaton North Falcons, the Marshall Commandos and the University Maroons this season.
