Purple Asparagus 9th Annual “Corks and Crayons” Benefit

Purple Asparagus, the non-profit that educates children, families and the community about eating that’s good for the body and the planet, will host its Ninth Annual Corks & Crayons Benefit at Greenhouse Loft, 2545 W. Diversey, Chicago, on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. This event brings foodies of all ages together to celebrate the joys of family meals and healthy eating—all for a good cause.

Hosted by Logan Pause of Chicago Fire, this year’s event will feature tastings from over 15 of Chicago’s leading tastemakers including, Top Chef Contestants Heather Terhune of Sable and Richie Farina of Moto, as well as chefs, pastry chefs and confectionistas from Farmhouse, Katherine Anne Confections, Uncommon Ground, Floriole, Big Jones, Trattoria No.10, Lizzie’s Bake Shoppe and Pecking Order. The event will also feature Ale Syndicate brews, cocktails made with Templeton Rye whiskey, Candid Wines and delicious non-alcoholic beverages for the kids.

“As the primary fundraiser for Purple Asparagus, Corks & Crayons gives the ability to bring free or inexpensive programming to schools all over Chicagoland,” says Melissa Graham, founder and Head Spear of Purple Asparagus. “This unique charitable benefit incorporates family-friendly activities, making it perfect for the entire family to enjoy, all while supporting a great cause.”

During the event there will be multiple activities to keep the entire family entertained including a mini farmer’s market, tours of the LEED Certified Green Exchange, a photo booth, art experience by A Muse, a magician, a silent auction and raffle prize drawings.

Since this is a fundraising event there is a charge for tickets. Tickets for “Corks & Crayons”  can be purchased here.
