Sacred Art, located at 2040 W. Roscoe St., celebrated its one-year anniversary with a grand reopening featuring an in-store jewelry making session and a trunk show demo.
Owner Sarah Chazin was inspired to open Sacred Art after a dear friend of hers, Cheryl Weaver, died.
“That just gave me a kick in the pants that life is too short and you just got to go for it and create your own,” Chazin said, “I thought galleries were really scary to me because I don’t have a background in art, and I just kind of want to like something and simplify (for the art buyer) it.”
With Chazin’s inspiration she opened the Roscoe Village business Feb. 2, 2006. Her idea: Exhibit and sell of Chicagoland artists, and give art enthusiasts a comfortable place to buy art without the pressure of being at an art gallery.
