Check out the opening reception celebrating 1979:1 – 2012:21: Jan Tichy Works on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 5 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP) at 600 S. Michigan Ave.

Using the vast resources of the MoCP permanent collection, artist Jan Tichy exhibits selects Museum photographs with a number of his original light and video installations.

Jan Tichy has collaborated with the MoCP for a one-year period to create an exhibition based on the museum’s collection of nearly 11,000 images and objects. During this period, Tichy delved into the collection with an eye toward making it more accessible. In addition, Tichy worked with M.A. & M.F.A. students to focus on the public’s online access to the collection and explored the possibilities of digital archiving.

These projects have culminated in a museum-wide exhibition in seven parts. In these installations Tichy explores the photographic principles of image making, the nature of digital representation, and the effects of different methods of display.

Please join us in celebrating this exciting exhibition from our collection.

This event is free and open to the public.
