Saturday is World Naked Bike Ride and Chicago’s Doing it

This Saturday is the Annual Naked Bicycle Ride.  This is a world-wide event that has been celebrated in Chicago for about eight or nine years. Many of the riders are part of Critical Mass, but anyone is welcome to join. Degrees of nakedness are permitted, after all you are on a bike.

The route isn’t announced until Saturday evening, but if you are out and about and wonder if you really saw hundreds of bicyclists in body paint and little more, you probably did. The ride usually include the Mag Mile and other popular intersections like Milwaukee/Damen/North.

Sometimes we can all use a reminder that we don’t need cosmetics or clothing to look beautiful. It’s hard to be aggressive or surly or rude when you are nude.  There are some rules pertaining to photos and alcohol, and some directions for anyone who isn’t ready to ride, but wants to be a spectator, so read up here.

Last year’s ride video is here for you to enjoy.
