Community Renewal Society Fundraiser Goes Virtual

Some items from CRS online auction

From ImprovOlympics and ComedySportz to dinner and the movies or a quiet canoe trip and picnic dinner on the Chicago River, you can find some interesting Chicago-centric items at the Community Renewal Society’s online auction this year. The auction is open for your bid until March 20th and costs nothing to enter.

The Community Renewal Society decided to forego its face-to-face fundraiser, with “Spring Ahead for Social Change.” This virtual fundraiser will consist of a month-long online auction (Feb. 20 to Mar. 20), weekly releases of web videos from staff and volunteers, and a web address from our executive director at the culmination of the online auction on March 20, 2011.

The Community Renewal Society operates Catalyst ChicagoThe Chicago Reporter, and the Civic Action Network. The Community Renewal Society is a “progressive, faith-based organization that works to eliminate race and class barriers” founded in 1882.

Community Renewal Society’s mission is to empower individuals, community-based organizations and congregations to advocate for social justice. They focus on local education, senior health care, housing and criminal and juvenile justice issues.

The auction is a win-win proposition because you get deals on items you like, but 100 percent of the ticket sales and/or auction purchases will support Community Renewal Society’s programs.
