Logan Square Farmers Market Report

Logan Square Farmers Market

Every Sunday through October 28th, Logan Square Farmers Market is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can check them out on Facebook, or on their Farmers Market Website for more details. See the list below of who will be there this Sunday.

It’s tomato season, even this early in the season. The agricultural practice that makes it possible for us to buy these hefty, heirloom tomatoes in June is also radical in its simplicity.  It’s not just the record hot spring we’ve had, but the extension of our growing season that has brought ripe tomatoes to Market this early.  Our farmers are practicing high tunnelhoop house, and greenhouse growing, methods based on the simple principle of harnessing and concentrating the energy of the sun to grow plants in a more hospitable environment than our region offers.  This basic, elemental technology is healing our broken food system.  It’s also producing some beautiful tomatoes.
